The Lions Club of Tableview took on the mammoth job by aiming to collect 13000 Easter Eggs from schools in the area to distribute to the less fortunate in the area. This they succeeded to do and Easter Eggs were distributed far and wide.
The Lions Club of Bergvliet received in excess of 5500 Easter eggs this year which were donated by Bergvliet and Westcott Primary Schools and also Monterery Pre-Primary School.
The members had a fun morning counting, sorting and selecting the beneficiaries for the eggs. This resulted in deliveries to 37 homes/organisations including Meals on Wheels, hospitals, two police stations, homeless people on the street, and physically and intellectually challenged people.
The smiles on the faces of the recipients said it all!
A HUGE thank you to the children at the schools who always support the Lions Club of Bergvliet and have been doing so for the last 24 years!
One of the beneficiaries was the Victoria Hospital in Wynberg where the Club has been handing out Easter Eggs for the last 20 years. LP Angela Niehaus is pictured here handing eggs to patient in the children’s ward.
Members also took this opportunity to bid farewell to Lion Jean Knaggs who is emigrating to Australia to be closer to her family. Bon voyage Lion Jean!
