The Lions Club of Mitchells Plain have done it again!
The Club members visited the Mitchells Plain Community Health Centre on 11 May 2018 to celebrate International Nurses Day. The members handed out gifts to the nurses on duty and then continued to hand out gifts to all the female patients at the Centre in recognition of Mother’s Day.
There were lots of speeches, including Lion Veronica Vember who described her experiences in her journey in the nursing profession.
The nurses thanked the Club by singing motivational songs for them!
The project was a great success. It put a smile on the faces of the women who work tirelessly to help others. It brought love to the Mothers who could not be with their loved ones on Mothers Day. However, I think the Club members secretly had a good time too!
The event received much coverage in the local papers. Congratulations to the Lions Club of Mitchells Plain on a great initiative!
A Celebration Dinner was held in Robertson on Saturday, 12th May 2018 to mark the rebirth of the Lions Club of Robertson!
The Lions Club of Robertson was chartered on 13th June 1973 by the then International President George Friedricks , Through the years the club was involved in many projects and touched the lives of many people.
Sadly however, over the last three years the decline in membership resulted in the Club being dormant for over a year….
But that is all history!
With the support and motivation of LP Faezal Karriem of the Lions Club of Worcester and PCC Seymour Abrahams of the Lions Club of Kirstenbosch the Lions Club of Robertson was reborn on Saturday, inducting 18 new members into the Lions family and starting a new chapter for the Club – a new beginning.
The incoming officers for the forthcoming year are:
Club President: Tracey – Lee Scheepers
Vice President: Melvyn Munnik
Secretary: Noeleen Isaaks
Treasurer: Aubrey Michaels
Membership: Rozanne Michaels
Service Chairperson: Jamiel Abrahim
PRO: Deon Scheepers
Congratulations to all the members of The Lions Club of Robertson. It can be seen already that the Club is excited and unified and ready to SERVE!
The Incoming Officers for the new Lionistic year have been elected and on Saturday, 12 May 2018 they found out what the year ahead entails for them!
A record of ninety Incoming Officers met at the Rondebosch Girls High School for training on their portfolios for 1st Vice/GLT, Treasurer, Secretary, Services/GST, Membership/GMT and Marketing & PR.
They first received an overview of all the Club Portfolios, what the implementation of GAT entails and details of DGE Rocky’s goals for the future year. Following this they attended the training for their individual portfolios.
Well done to PDG Liz Houston who convened the day with expert precision and to all attended.
Wishing all Club Office bearers a wonderful year ahead!
